Here are a few applescripts I put together to get my OmniFocus Tasks to display on the desktop.

Due Soon | Inbox Count | Next Actions

Which refer to OmniFocus perspectives labelled 'Due', 'Inbox' and 'Contexts" respectively. You can alter the script to suit your own choice of perspective label. For example you may want to show only tasks that you see in the 'flagged' perspective.

In Geektool, you can call the scripts using the command 'osascript [script path]'. Then you can format and position the text boxes in a way that suits you.

I would recommend setting a long refresh period so as not to reduce the risk of the script interfering with your experience of OmniFocus as each pull will switch to the required perspective which can be a nuisance if you are trying to type something.

Although the government has declared victory, there is a caution in the air and security forces are dotted about the roads as we go, making filming a little tricky. Much of my footage of the region is taken from moving three-wheelers and digitally stabilised later which is not ideal.

It is a land of intense contrast - ugliness and beauty live in harmony and although the landscape is tired from war, the people are still smiling.

OmniFocus introduced the quick-entry many moons ago for mac users but have been unable to do the same for the iphone due to restrictions preventing one app accessing the data of another and the inability to have background processes.

Users of jailbroken Iphones may however use this workaround which allows you to double tap the home button taking you straight to the omnifocus application:

1. Install 'custom homebutton' from Cydia

2. Install 'backgrounder'

3. set omnifocus to run in the background (works well most of the time, try not to background too many processes)

4. Set your homebutton to open doubletap://com.omnigroup.OmniFocus

UPDATE: 14/01/10 Latest omnifocus update  allows you to open the app with the quick entry window ready and waiting

Now every time you double tap it will instantly open up omnifocus!

I have mine setup to do the following when I leave the computer

• Announce the departure verbally
• Set my chat status to away from computer
• Turn off any music which might be playing on spotify and itunes
• ...and finally activate the screensaver which will in turn lock down the mac

This works well and I have one final wish- that conversations initiated on adium can be continued seamlessly on the iphone as soon as proximity is broken.

You'll find the quality of the internal microphone is sufficient (44100??) for draft purposes. The following recording was made using the application and a dodgy headset microphone. The basic multitrack recording feature is a godsend to the musician on the move who might be struck by a melody while on the move and doesn't mind sounding like a pratt recording it in public.

I don't think in terms of lyrics and tend to just throw in words that fit initially and chisel them into something that makes sense later. . . this isn't a very good approach. But I'm more concerned with how the sound moves along so it's fine for drafting ideas.

Here's an instrumental version with background vocals which was inspired by the dark and haunting choral piece by Steve Baker and Carmen Dave 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' which featured on the Donnie Darko OST. I love this piece and if I was arranging funeral music this would surely feature when people were entering the church.
