This year I visited the hometowns of my parents for the first time; Jaffna and Kayts.

Although the government has declared victory, there is a caution in the air and security forces are dotted about the roads as we go, making filming a little tricky. Much of my footage of the region is taken from moving three-wheelers and digitally stabilised later which is not ideal.

It is a land of intense contrast - ugliness and beauty live in harmony and although the landscape is tired from war, the people are still smiling.
